ABOUT

Shandi Yicheng Hsin was born in Tainan, Taiwan, and holds an Art Master's degree from Goldsmiths, University of London. Currently, she is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and curator, as well as the co-founder of the interdisciplinary art studio, Placebo Studio. Her work spans various mediums, including speculative design, interactive installations, performance, video, and curation.

Her works encompass diverse realms, ranging from symbolic food video projects to speculative design systems for future dining experiences. Through a variety of mediums and forms, she engages in a dialectic exploration of life and survival, examining cultural and moral issues that arise from food as a cultural carrier connecting societal groups. Using imaginative design, she explores the possibilities of food science in contemporary society and its potential development in the future.

She has been selected as an international artist-in-residence at Taipei Artist Village x Grey Projects in Singapore (2022), a resident artist at Medialab Prado Media Arts Lab in Spain (2019), and sponsored by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts for an artist residency at V2_ Institute for the Unstable Media in Rotterdam, the Netherlands (2018).
